Dr. Sylvia Sax

Dr. Sylvia Sax (MPH, PhD) is a nurse, senior public health manager and university lecturer with extensive experience in health sector reform, quality management, evaluation and all aspects of capacity building. She is highly knowledgeable in different health systems and broad experience in human resource management, health sector reform, management, and development cooperation and teaching. Sylvia was a team leader for development of organisational and country quality strategies, primary and secondary healthcare standards, and audit and evaluation processes and systems.

Sylvia is a trained ISO and EFQM evaluator and has worked from the National to provider lever in the design and implementation of quality management mechanisms. Her work experience spans countries with higher income as well as low and middle income, including substantive experience in Kazakhstan. She led the establishment of Short Courses in International Health and coordinated the Master in International Health at the University of Heidelberg where she continues to lecture and coordinate several short courses.
